Microsoft Doubles Down on Containers with Deis Acquisition

Im sure its not news to you that containers are a hot concept. If you were looking for proof or validation of that fact, though, look no further than the news that Microsoft is acquiring Deisa company focused on helping customers build and maintain container ecosystems. Scott Guthrie, executive vice president of Microsofts Cloud and Enterprise Group, discussed the acquisition of Deis in a blog post. At Microsoft, weve seen explosive growth in both interest and deployment of containerized workloads on Azure, and were committed to ensuring Azure is the best place to run them. To support this vision, were pleased to announce that Microsoft has signed an agreement to acquire Deis a company that has been at the center of the container transformation. Deis CTO, Gabe Monroy, also wrote a blog post announcing the news. Microsoft has a storied history of building tools and technologies that work for developers, he wrote.
