Sylabs Arrives to Advance High-Performance Computing Container Adoption

Sylabscame out of stealth today to provide support for container software designed specifically for high-performance computing (HPC) environments that are being employed to process scientific applications based on, forco example, machine and deep learning algorithms. Company CEO Greg Kurtzer says the open source Singularity container he developed for HPC environments is unique in that it is based on a single file (SIF) that encapsulates the runtime environment.

Scoot wants to expand its electric scooter operations globally with a white-label service

San Francisco-based electric scooter sharing network Scoot tells TechCrunch it plans to share its back-end software with third-party scooter operators in congested cities around the world. The idea, as Scoots founder Michael Keating explained it, is to allow those in other cities who have vehicles tohook into Scoots back-end operation system, allowing them to also run a scooter sharing network in their area.
